WINNIPEG - Two members of the Bisons women's soccer team earned conference honours Monday morning.
Bianca Cavalcanti was named to the Canada West All Prairie team after putting up 13 points on the season, the second most in Canada West.
Cavalcanti also rose through Bisons history. Her 28 career goals and 12 assists rank her third all-time in both goals and points. She sits just behind Olympic champion Desiree Scott in both categories.

"The thing that jumps out at me for Bianca is that she was an all-star off the field just as much as she was on the field. She was a leader and mentor to her rookies and she's leaving the team with her imprint on it. She taught me more than I probably taught her about the game and about the importance of getting to know your players and understanding them. She truly is an all-star off the field every bit as much as she is one on the field," said interim head coach
Fabio Capone.
As Cavalcanti graduates from the program, she passes the torch to a strong rookie core, one of whom also picked up conference honours.
Frankie La Peter was named to the All-Rookie team after a standout season in which she netted four goals.
"She epitomized what it means to show up. She's a woman of few words, but she delivered every time. For a rookie to come in and just get the job done, listen, and deliver, it was impressive. She just took hold of the opportunity she was given and ran with it," remarked Capone.
Cavalcanti is graduating one of the most successful Bisons in women's soccer history with an engineering degree in hand. And La Peter will look to lead a young team into a promising future.
