The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the nine U SPORTS quarterbacks who will participate in the CFL's Quarterback Internship Program. Included is third-year Bisons pivot
Cole Anseeuw, who will join the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for rookie and training camp for the second season in a row.
Since the program's inception in 2010, amateur and collegiate pivots have joined CFL clubs ahead of the upcoming campaign to participate in practices, and attend team and positional meetings, in hopes of improving their craft.Â
Rookie camps begin on May 6, with training camp starting on May 30. The CFL pre-season begins on May 18, and the regular season kicks off on June 4. Bisons football rookie camp begins today through Sunday, with veteran camp beginning on April 28 and running until May 14.Â
Anseeuw enters his third season (second year of eligibility) with Manitoba in 2026. He appeared in all eight games in 2025, earning his first career U SPORTS start on September 27 against Regina. Overall, Anseeuw started twice for the Herd a year ago, throwing for a career-high 262 yards against Saskatchewan on October 25 in his second start of the campaign.Â
Overall, the 6'4" St. Paul's grad threw for a total of 483 yards in 2025, with three touchdowns. A native of Winnipeg, he recorded his first career passing touchdown at home against Alberta on September 20. He completed seven of nine passes total in the game for 102 yards.Â
