Men's Hockey Press Release

British Columbia Hockey League veteran Erik Pastro commits to Bisons

The 6'2" center from Vernon, BC recorded 120 career points in the BCHL between the Vernon Vipers and Trail Smoke Eaters.

The Bisons men's hockey team got stronger at the center position today with the addition of 6'2" Vernon, BC native Erik Pastro. A veteran of four seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Pastro recorded 120 career points between the Vernon Vipers and Trail Smoke Eaters.

"We are very excited to add Erik to our lineup," said head coach Gordon Burnett. "He is a strong presence down the middle who can control play in all areas of the ice, and he brings a hard, accurate shot with a quick release that makes him a constant offensive threat."

Pastro's most productive season in the BCHL came last year with the Smoke Eaters. He recorded 48 points in 54 games, including a career-high 24 goals. The year before, he captained the Vipers, tallying 28 points.

Prior to his time in the BCHL, Pastro was a standout at the U18 AAA level for the Okanagan Rockets. He posted a remarkable 67 points in just 32 contests in the 2022-23 season, earning League MVP and Top Scorer recognition in the British Columbia Elite Hockey League (BCEHL).

In the classroom, Pastro was an honour-roll student all throughout high school.

"I'm very excited to be joining the Bisons family," said Pastro.

"From the coaching staff to the team culture, it made this an easy decision for me. I can't wait to meet all the guys and contribute any way I can to help the team win games, while also obtaining a valuable university degree!"
