2017 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Sara Schur is quickly establishing that she wears her shooting boots on big occasions. In the 2015 season’s opening fixture at home to Thompson Rivers, she managed to score on her CIS debut. Not long after, the highly-anticipated stadium match against rivals Winnipeg Wesman saw Schur strike again in a 2-0 win at Investor’s Group Field. Not a record for a player just capping off her first season with the Bison’s Women’s Soccer Team.
“Those two goals were hopefully just the beginning,” Said Schur. “All I hope to see in the future is my team getting stronger. My goal is just to help out my team as much as I can – whether it be by scoring, assist, just being on the field or increasing intensity during practice.”
Her goal for the Bisons during the 2016 season was to get to the post-season, something which was accomplished down to the wire. As the Bisons matched up against a strong Calgary Dinos squad, their further playoff hopes were in the line. A 1-0 win was all it took in the end to sneak into the Canada West Select Six tournament.
“The moment I will never forget though, was the game against Calgary, which I think sums up the spirit of our team. On paper, we weren’t even close to matching Calgary, however through hard work we walked away with the win.” Said Schur. “I will never forget the feeling after the final whistle blew. I was so proud of my team and what we had accomplished. “
Having already scored at the Investor’s Group Field, Schur has her sights this season on performing on the same stage yet again. “I am very excited for the stadium game! It’s an incredible feeling to be playing on the same field that hosted the Women’s World Cup, and the atmosphere is something I look forward to each year. Hearing the crowd cheer your team on in such a big stadium is an indescribable feeling.”
