2019 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Stefanie Young, a product of the Okanagan Mission Huskies in BC, enters her first season at the U SPORTS level in 2019.
She was a key reason why the Huskies were able to claim their first-ever Okanagan Valley senior AA girls soccer championship in 2016.
Her recruitment started in March of her grade 11 year.
"The University of Manitoba hadn’t really caught my eye when I first started looking into universities, but it wasn’t until my fellow teammate and friend Karina Bagi had told me all the great things about the soccer program and what the school had to offer.
I had then reached out to Vanessa at the Vancouver Whitecaps showcase in BC where she invited me to the May I.D. camp. When I arrived at the University it had been an amazing experience, seeing the campus, the residence, and the sport facilities, it wasn’t long until it started to feel like a place I could call home for the next five years."
Young's favourite moment on the pitch occurred after recovering from a serious knee injury.
"Although having surgery and being away from the sport I love was an incredibly difficult time, it only showed me how important soccer really is to me. The feeling I got that very moment was truly indescribable."
As the 2019 season nears closer, Young is looking forward to taking her game to the next level.
"Being in such an intense environment where I get to train everyday and get to focus on getting better is something that I have always wanted to do. I am also excited for having a fresh start, a place where I get to meet new people, learn new things and ultimately discover who I am as an athlete and a person."
