Grant Richter has coached basketball in the province of Manitoba since 1983.  Grant has coached all levels including grass roots, Winnipeg Minor Basketball, Rising Stars League, Junior High, High School, College (MCAC), University (CIS), and professional (IBA).
 
In 19 years coaching at the high school level (Transcona Collegiate, Murdoch Mackay, University of Winnipeg Collegiate) he compiled a record of 372 wins vs. 109 losses.  While at the University of Winnipeg in his role as Director of Athletic Program Development, Grant developed the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen programs that currently compete in the Manitoba Colleges Athletics Conference.   Grant had successful stints coaching the University of Winnipeg Inner City Jr. Wesmen  boy’s, and the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen Men’s basketball programs.
 
 
In the 90’s Grant served as assistant coach with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. Where he was a coach to Kirby Schepp. In 1996, Grant joined the Winnipeg Cyclone as an assistant coach and was promoted to head coach in 2000.  In his time with the Cyclone, Grant had the benefit of being mentored by legendary coach Bill Klucas and NBA legend Darryl Dawkins.
 
Grant's education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree (Kinesiology) from the University of Winnipeg, and a Masters of Education degree (Sport Coaching) from the University of Victoria.  Grant has also completed his NCCP level 4 at the National coaching institute in Winnipeg.
