2016 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Creative, tricky and versatile, Alanna Morris certainly adds to the Bison’s box of tricks. The second-year player gives The Herd plenty of options with her creative style and flexibility in positions.
“Being flexible as a player is very important because it makes it easier for you to support your team in any given position,” Said Morris, who covers both midfield and attacking roles. “As a forward your priority is more so to score, whereas in midfield it’s to keep possession and distribute the ball amongst the team.”
Morris is no stranger to different levels of soccer, having played organized soccer with South End United, in high school, women’s premier and co-ed. Most recently, she’s taken on futsal; something she credits for taking her style to the next level.
“It exposed me to a version of the game that stresses ball control and creativity,” Said Morris. “I learned a lot of tricks and feints which I was able to bring to the full field when I play outdoor soccer and I think it has really upped my game and brought a certain style to my play.”
Off the pitch, Morris is taking strides in the Junior Bisons Camps to stress her passion regarding equality.
“I am very pro equality and I am really passionate about feminism and the idea that women deserve all the same political, economic and social rights that are granted to men. I think these camps are awesome because they really inspire and impact the lives of young female athletes,” Said Morris. “I feel like the girls really learn a lot from these camps and get to know that sports aren’t just for boys.”
It’s no surprise that Morris has taken that initiative, considering she cracked both the men’s and women’s soccer roster in her final year of high school.
