Biography

Even though the Bisons do not have any shortages in the attacking department, the presence of Alyssa Carpino will had another dimension to their roster. The freshman plays as up front and in attacking midfield, and is noted for her wicked accuracy for shooting and distribution on both feet.

After a friend introduced her to the Bison’s Women’s Soccer Team, Carpino was intrigued right from the get-go. “I thought this would be a great opportunity to continue my education and also play the sport I love.” Said Carpino. “From there I contacted coach Vanessa Martinez Lagunas and told her I was playing in the Winnipeg League and to come to watch my games.”

Her initial interest in the Bisons heightened with an invite to the Junior Bisons traning sessions that took place in March. Not long after, she committed to the program. Reflecting from her commitment after just one year, native of Ontario knew she was at the right place. “I knew this was the right soccer program for me because the team was welcoming and made it feel like a home away from home. “ Said Carpino.

Commitment is another trait that the Bisons would be benefiting from Carpino. She played for her hometown club, the Thunder Bay Chill Reserve Program for nine years. Carpino also performed in two city championships and in the provincial championships at St. Ignatius High School – the same institute attended by former Bison midfielder Megan Graca. Still awaiting her chance to be called up to the Bison’s front lines, it is likely she will be making her first appearance sooner rather than later.
