2016 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Standing at six-foot, Britt MacSween has the frame required for such a demanding position. She is the tallest member of the Bison’s squad. As any soccer fan can imagine, climbing above a crowd of heads to claim crosses is less of a challenge for MacSween than most other shot-stoppers.
However, her recent quest to earn a Provincial B coaching license has truly put her ability as a goalkeeper to the test.
The goalkeeper is the only player on the pitch who can see the entire play. For the native of Calgary, AB, undergoing the game as a student by analyzing a wide range of positions, she has improved her ability to master the art of shot-stopping.
“I had to learn all the key points of all the field positions and master being able to coach them.” Says MacSween. “It’s been really beneficial to me as a player learning and understanding all parts of the game.”
“I’ve had to break down the game off the field so when I get out there as a player, I am better able to anticipate and recognize the game as a whole.”
With two years left in her eligibility, don’t be surprise if MacSween rises to become an unbeatable presence between the Bison’s posts.
The fourth-year Arts student is no stranger to different regions of Canada. Born in Burnaby, BC, she spent most of her life in Calgary with trips to Toronto in between.
MacSween attended the National Sport Academy in Calgary where she applied for recruitment at the University of Manitoba. Not long after submitting her application, the Bisons arranged for MacSween to visit, and ultimately signed in 2012. At just 17, she made the transfer to Manitoba to join the Bison’s soccer team.
