2019 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
At the first annual women's soccer banquet in May 2016, Chelsea Dubiel was awarded with the highest GPA award. It was truly a testament to her passion for education.
“I love education and learning in general,” said Dubiel. “This is an essential piece that allows me to stay focused.”
Last year she returned to the team after an eight-month break from athletics, realizing the importance of dedicating to present tasks in order to ready herself for the future. She rejoined the team on the back of working for the federal government and Government of Nunavut.
“Knowing that all this hard work will not only form good character but will also give me the ability to contribute and impact society in a meaningful way gives me the drive to dedicate my few years here to all the commitments that come along with being a student athlete."
Three years ago, Dubiel scored a goal in the very first U SPORTS soccer match to be played in a former World Cup venue. The Bisons defeated the University of Winnipeg Wesman 2-0. While such an accomplishment is notable, Dubiel would rather focus on her defensive duties and a team-first mentality.
“I believe individually over the past four years the tackles I have made at the top of our box have made an even great difference for our team's overall performance and results.”
Heading into her final season of eligibility in U SPORTS, Dubiel is emphasizing more consistent performances over the course of the entire campaign.
“I feel we need to be able to perform consistently against all opponents and in crucial games like the first round of playoffs.”
