Ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, sports psychologist consultant Dr. Leisha Strachan had asked Craig Brown if he was interested in assisting her with the bison women’s soccer team. Naturally for the sports psychology student, it felt like a perfect fit.
"Having a massive passion for soccer and sport psychology, I didn't hesitate once given the opportunity," said Brown.
Along with his fondness for the sport, his interests in the influences of sport and young athletics runs deeper. It is for these reason that Brown sought a long-term commitment in the sport psychology field.
"I have a passion for youth, for sport and for seeing how sport can be used as a beneficial tool in the social and personal development of individuals."
Brown is motivated especially in making a difference for athletes during times of difficult circumstances.
"When I see some of the issues that affect athletes, sometimes something inside me screams, what could I have done or what can I do to help?
There's something about that feeling you get when you see that something you have done has helped or made a positive difference in someone's life. That's what drives me when working with youth and/or athletes."
