Lauren Kaminski

  • Title
    Sports Psychology Consultant

In her third year with the women’s soccer team, Lauren Kaminski plays an important role with the Bisons off the pitch. As part of a team that includes Leisha Strachan and Craig Brown, Kaminski is responsible for sport psychology sessions to discuss topics such as mental toughness and goal-setting with the team.

Her life-long commitment in sports and interest in the field of study has led her down a path of giving athletes the support they need between games.

"I chose sport psychology because, in addition to having played sports my whole life, I find the field really interesting," said Kaminski.

"I also like being part of a team of professionals that all work together to help athletes succeed."

As part of the Sports Psychology Practicum at the University of Manitoba taught by Dr. Adrienne Leslie-Toogood, she was first assigned to the women’s soccer team in 2016.

A Master’s student in the Department of Psychology at University of Manitoba, she is closing in on earning her degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. For those students who are looking to head down a similar path such as Kaminski, sherecommends getting involved early with the Bisons Psychology and Kinesiology departments.
