Biography
Calgary native Rebecca Waterman was introduced to the Bison women’s soccer team at the 2017 Spring ID Camp, where she came to realize that University of Manitoba suited her post-secondary needs.
“After attending spring camp in 2017, meeting the coaching staff, and touring the campus I felt that the U of M was a great fit for me,” said the defender. “I’ve always wanted to play soccer at the university level.”
Waterman is graduate of Lord Beaverbrook High School. She completed in the Calgary Women’s Soccer Association with the Calgary Rangers. Waterman was a member of the 2017 Rangers Elite squad that captured indoor title during the 2016-17 season. She contributed to the club’s championship scoring one goal during the campaign.
As a fullback, she understands of importance of utilizing her pace while occupying the flanks.
“I use my speed on the wings to stay with the opposing team's fast wingers.”
Waterman played in seven games as a freshman in 2018-19, starting six. She's looking forward to continued development on the pitch this year.
"After being on the team for a year I have learned that as a team we win and lose together but we also learn and improve together too. This season I would like to improve my game by improving my overall confidence on the field and being stronger when competing for balls in the air."
