Bison Football Breakdown
Training Camp Day 6 – August 21

Star of the Day
Nose tackle Eddie Steele has been quick and tough throughout the camp. He showed again on Thursday as he was disruptive of offensive plays and showed his skills especially on 1-on-1 drills during practice. The Winnipeg native from Kelvin High School has created quite a dynamic duo with Don Oramasionwu.

Position Battle
At the strong halfback position, rookie Marlon Azurdia and second year Bisons Toshio Nishimura and Owen Ferguson have been very competitive throughout the first six days. Defensive back coach Richard Urbanovich said that all three have taken numerous reps and shown a desire for a starting position for Game 1.

Rookie Report
Defensive back Teague Sherman from the Victoria Rebels has shown his talents by fighting through the learning curve of the new system and exhibited his athleticism over the past few days.

Dobie Says
Bison head coach Brian Dobie said, “It is interesting that after an electric storm hits, how the training camp mood changes when practice is changed from two-a-days to just one practice to accommodate the weather.”

Hashmarks

Practices were delayed until 5:45 and shorten to just one as a ferocious electric storm blew through the University of Manitoba campus. The squad was forced off the Stadium field as it was too 'swampy'…Offensive line coach and former Bomber Brett MacNeil was in mid-season form as he was barking instructions when there was too much penetration on certain drills…Thursday was picture day with headshots taken prior to the one practice…A new drill was brought out on Wednesday night. One defensive line player had to go against two offensive linemen plus then try to reach the quarterback within a confined space and a ten second period. To say the least, it helped the D-line players be creative to push towards the QB and several tongues were a wagging after the fast-paced drill.
