The 2010-11 Canada West women's volleyball all-star teams and post-season honours were announced by the conference on Friday, February 25. The University of Manitoba Bisons had three players honoured for their efforts.
Bison women's volleyball right side/middle hitter Ashley Voth was named as 2010-11 Canada West First Team All-Star. In addition, setter Sam Loewen and middle hitter Tricia Mayba were selected as 2010-11 Canada West Second Team All-Star. This is the fourth conference all-star honour for Voth while the third consecutive season for Loewen and first time as a conference all-star selection for Mayba.
Ashley Voth, 22, adds to her numerous awards and accolades at the conference level with her third selection to first team honours (second team in 2006-07) for the 2006-07 CIS and Canada West Rookie of the Year. In her fifth and final season at Manitoba, Voth was first in Canada West and CIS in hitting percentage at .403 and tied for fifth in conference in blocks per game (1.0) in 2010-11. The Winnipeg native started and played in all 18 conference regular season matches and added 163 kills with 96 digs, 70 overall blocks and 18 service aces. She has also played several positions this season as they were changes in the lineup and excelled in unfamiliar position of middle this season.
Loewen, 21, earned her third consecutive conference second team all-star selection in her four year Manitoba career after being named as 2007-08 CIS and Canada West Rookie of the Year. Loewen was first in Canada West and second in CIS in total assists with 690 and third in conference and third in CIS in assists per game (9.86) in 2010-11. The East St. Paul native started and played in all 18 conference regular season matches and added 58 kills, 122 digs, 36 total blocks and 15 service aces this season.
Mayba, 22, continued her strong season with Manitoba after playing with the national team prior to start of the 201-11 campaign. For Mayba, she earns her first conference all-star recognition after being fourth in Canada West and tenth in CIS in hitting percentage with .292, third in conference (fourth in CIS) in blocks per game at 1.23 and ninth in conference in points per game (3.51). The Winnipeg native started and played in 17out of 18 conference regular season matches this season.
