The Bison women's soccer team finishes their conference regular season at home as they host two crucial matches against Regina and Saskatchewan on October 24-25 weekend.

The Bisons (6-4-2) have already clinched a playoff spot and host the Regina Cougars (1-9-2) on Saturday, October 24 at noon CT and the Saskatchewan Huskies (9-3-0) on Sunday, October 25 at 2 p.m. CT. Both games held at the Turf Fields – West Side at the U of Manitoba campus.

The East Region standings are tight heading into the final week of conference action. The top three in each region at the end of the season will host a post-season game. Manitoba sits in fourth spot with 20 points, only one point back of third place Grant MacEwan. Calgary is in second spot with 23 points and Saskatchewan leads the East with 27 points. Regina is in seventh with five points but could still qualify for the playoffs.

This is the second meeting of the 2015 season against these two opponents. The Bisons lost 3-2 at Saskatchewan on Sat., Sept. 12 while they defeated Regina by a 2-1 score on Sun., Sept. 13. Saskatchewan enters weekend on a four game win streak while Regina has lost six in a row. Manitoba looks to rebound from two losses on the West Coast in the previous weekend and have gone 3-1-1 at home so far this season.

So far in 2015, the Herd have numerous players among the leaders in conference stats. Second year forward Bruna Mavignier is still tied for third Canada West in goals with six goals despite suffering an injury. Fifth year midfielder Megan Graca is tied for sixth with five conference assists and tied for 12th in shots on goal with 16. Rookie Madison Wilford is second with .850 Save Pct., tied for sixth with three shutouts in Canada West and tenth with 1.36 Goals Against Average. Fifth year goalkeeper Chloe Werle is fourth with .814 Save Pct. while tied for eighth in conference saves at 48 and Wilford is seventh place with 51 saves.

Ten different Bisons have scored in 2015 and Manitoba has amassed 22 goals so far this season, for second best in the East Region.

Bison Notes: Manitoba has never hosted a playoff game since starting Canada West play in 2005. The last time the Bisons qualified for the post-season was in the 2012 season.
