The Manitoba Bisons women's soccer program has added a talented local defender with the signing of Isabella Johnston, a 5'6" fullback from Winnipeg.

Johnston joins the Bisons after spending time with Trinity Western University and brings a strong combination of leadership, championship experience, and academic excellence to the program.

A graduate of J.H. Bruns Collegiate, Johnston was named the school's Athlete of the Year and earned Honours with Distinction in all four years of high school. She was also the recipient of the MS Soccer Scholarship and helped 1v1 Soccer Academy capture a national championship.

A natural leader, Johnston served as captain of her school's soccer team from Grades 10-12 and captained both the hockey and flag football programs in her senior years. She also served as assistant captain for the inaugural PPL league team, highlighting her versatility as a multi-sport athlete.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Manitoba Bisons and continue both my academic and athletic career in my hometown," Johnston said. "The University of Manitoba provides an amazing opportunity to compete at a high level while pursuing my education. I look forward to contributing to the program and being part of the strong Bison community and tradition."

Born on August 8, 2007, Johnston will continue her academic journey at the University of Manitoba, where a family connection already exists, as her sister currently attends the university.

With experience at the club, high school, and U SPORTS levels, Johnston adds valuable depth to the Bisons' back line as the program continues to build around top Manitoba talent. Her leadership, competitive drive, and commitment to excellence make her an exciting addition to the Brown and Gold.
