At the 105th annual Grey Cup between the CFL's East representative Toronto Argonauts against the West representative Calgary Stampeders on Sunday, November 26 in Ottawa, three Bison football alumni were part of the winning team. Toronto won 27-24 over Calgary and Bison alums Anthony Coombs, Evan Foster and Malcolm Williams and 2017 Grey Cup Champions with the Argos.
This is the first Grey Cup victory for all three players.
Coombs, 25, was in his fourth CFL season in 2017 after a very successful four years (2010-13) playing at Manitoba. In his fourth season with Toronto, the Winnipeg native had 33 rushing yards on 10 carries plus added 457 receiving yards on 49 catches with one TD reception in ten regular season games played in 2017.Â
Foster, 26, finished his first CFL season in 2017 after an award-winning three seasons (2014-16) with the Herd. In his rookie campaign with the Argos, Foster has made one special teams tackle in seven regular season games in 2017.
Williams, 24, completed his second CFL season in 2017 after being a red-shirt with the Bisons in 2015. He was on the practice roster for Toronto in 2016 and played in his second season with the Argos in 2017 while registering 153 receiving yards on 14 catches in 14 regular season games.Â
