Bison women’s soccer team prepare to face Canada West champion Trinity Western in quarter-finals match at the 2017 U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship hosted by Manitoba

#7 seed Manitoba will play final quarter-finals match against #2 seed Trinity Western on Thursday, November 9 at 6 p.m. CT

The Manitoba Bisons women's soccer team is the host of the 2017 U SPORTS Women's Soccer National Championship from November 9-12. The squad is the seventh seed for the 2017 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship being held at the Subway Soccer South (211 Chancellor Matheson Road at the U of Manitoba Fort Garry campus) in Winnipeg.

The Bisons (regular season: 4-7-3 record; playoffs: 0-1) will play against the #2 seed Trinity Western Spartans (10-3-1 regular season; 3-0 playoffs) in their first match during the final quarter-finals match held on Thursday, November 9 at 6 p.m. CT. Manitoba has not played the 2017 Canada West conference champion this season and have not met them during the national championship.

Manitoba seeks to beat Trinity Western for only the third time in program's history. The Bisons are 2-11-0 in regular season matches against the Spartans over the last 13 seasons plus 0-1 record in playoffs versus TWU.  

The last time the Herd have beaten Trinity Western was in the 2007 season (W 2-0 at TWU on Sept. 15) and the only time Manitoba has beaten TWU at home was in 2005 (W 3-2 on Sept. 29).

2017 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship:
Thursday, November 9 – Quarter-finals matches (all times are Central Time)

10 a.m. – #1 Laval vs. #8 Western            
12:30 p.m. – #4 Cape Breton vs. #5 Victoria
3 p.m. – #3 Guelph vs. #6 Montreal        
6 p.m. – #2 TWU vs. #7 Manitoba

Bison Notes: This is the first time the Bisons has played for the U SPORTS championship since the program's started playing in U SPORTS in the 2005 season (13th season). The complete four day, eight team national tournament runs from November 9-12, 2017 and will now be indoors for the first time in U SPORTS women's soccer championship history. Manitoba is the first Prairie host of this championship in its 31st edition.
