Bison women’s hockey team ranked number four in nation for first time since 2010-11 regular season

Manitoba moves from number five to four in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings

For the first time since the 2010-11 regular season, the Bison women's hockey team is ranked number four in the nation.

Manitoba (16-5-3-2 conference regular season record) moves from number five to four in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings. Manitoba was previous ranked number four in the U SPORTS Top 10 on January 11, 2011.

The Bison women's hockey team will travel to #7 Alberta Pandas for a crucial road weekend series to complete the 2016-17 conference regular season. Manitoba needs four of a possible six points available to earn second place in the Canada West conference. The Bisons play on Friday, February 10 at 8 p.m. CT and then on Saturday, February 11 at 3 p.m. CT and both games are on live webcast at canadawest.tv (fee req'd).

This is the second weekend series between the two teams this conference season. Earlier in 2016-17, the Herd earned one point against the Pandas at home (L 4-3 in shootout on Nov. 18/16 and L1-0 on Nov. 19/16).

Manitoba has five players in the Canada West Top 15 scoring with third year forward Lauryn Keen leading the way with 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists).

Bison Notes: At the 2017 Winter Universiade (World University Games) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Bison women's hockey third year forward Alanna Sharman and third year defenceman Erica Rieder finished with a silver medal as part Team Canada after 4-1 final loss to Russia in the gold medal game on Monday, February 6.
