The Bison women's soccer team (1-2-1 record), in partnership with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, will play the third ever U SPORTS match at a World Cup venue, Investors Group Field, on Saturday, September 23 at 2 p.m. CT versus the Alberta Pandas (2-1-1).

Manitoba has played two previous matches at IGF with the Bisons tying 1-1 against Winnipeg on October 6, 2016 and in the inaugural Bison Women's soccer match at the stadium, Manitoba prevailed by a 2-0 margin over Winnipeg on October 9, 2015 in front of 778 spectators.

Bison women's soccer head coach Vanessa Martinez Lagunas, in her fifth season at the helm, commented on the chance to play at an international venue. "We are very excited to have the opportunity to play once again at the world-class Investors Group Field stadium, where several matches of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup took place. We encourage and invite the whole soccer community, the students, staff and faculty members of University of Manitoba to attend."

In 2017 conference season, Manitoba has a 1-2-1 record while Alberta holds a 2-1-1 record. The Bisons are unbeaten so far in the young season at home with one win and a tie while the Pandas have one win and one loss on the road. The Bisons have scored five goals and allowed nine goals while Alberta have scored five and allowed one goal in four conference regular season matches.

Manitoba also hosts the Mount Royal Cougars, the next day, on Sunday, September 24 at 2 p.m. CT at the Turf Fields (west side).
