In the final tournament of the 2018 season for both Bison golf teams, the women finished third and the men finished fourth at the Vikes Golf Shootout. The two-day tournament was played at Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria, BC.
For the women, it was tied with their best result to date this season, after also coming third in the Jamestown Fall Invite in September. The team's combined score was 696 over two days (351, 345), eight strokes ahead of fourth-place Corban University.
The top individual performer was second-year
Marissa Naylor, who shot 84 and 77 to finish +17 and tied for seventh. Fellow sophomore
Veronica Vetesnik also finished high on the leaderboard, as her +21 put her in 11
th overall.
Rounding out the team were
Brynn Todd (+33, T22),
Coral Zamzow (+49, 28
th), and
Dayna Dubnicoff (+57, 33
rd).
On the men's side, the Bisons shot a combined 619 over two days to finish fifth overall, 12 strokes back of one of two Corban University teams.
Leading the Herd was fifth-year
Devon Schade, a fifth-year playing in his last tournament for the Brown and Gold. Schade shot an 80 and final round 72 to finish +12 and tied for 14
th. Also in the top 20 was fellow fifth-year
Jack Werhun, who shot +15 to finish tied for 19
th.
Rounding out the Bison men were
Josh Neufeld (+16, T22),
Jeff Bleue (+16, T22), and
Aaron McIntyre (+25, T43).
