The Bison women's hockey team (regular season: 19-5-3-1; playoffs: 7-1) were the No. 1 seed at the 2018 U SPORTS Championship at Western University in London, ON from March 15-18 and won 2-0 against the host and No. 3 seed Western Mustangs (regular season: 17-5-2; playoffs: 7-1) in the championship final game on Sunday, March 18.
The Bisons earned their first national championship in their sixth appearance plus first national championship in the 21 year program's history.
With the championship victory, Manitoba Bisons earned their 44th U SPORTS National Championship in their history.

In the 2018 women's hockey championship win, the Bisons also only allowed one goal in three championship games over the four day Nationals hosted by Western.
Bison women's hockey head coach Jon Rempel, completed his 14th season at the helm, has now been part of all six appearances by Manitoba at a U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship in the 21 year program's history and the Bisons now hold a 10-8 record at the national championship.
