WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Bisons snapped an eight-game losing streak in Brandon on Friday, beating the Bobcats 75-67.
It wasn't a game without its share of battles, though. The home Bobcats were looking for their first win in women's basketball this season and after edging Manitoba 22-18 in the second quarter, looked to be in position to get it.
The second half shooting of the Bisons held them at bay, though.
The Herd shot 60% from three-point land after halftime — led by four threes from rookie guard
Lana Shypit. Lauren and
Deidre Bartlett chipped in with three triples each, combining for 25 points. Lauren also had six rebounds, four assists, and added to her Canada West-leading steals count with four more.
Reeta Tulkki led the Bobcats with a career-high 24 points in 36 minutes.
This is the only matchup of the weekend for the two teams, as they finish an unusual series next Friday, Feb. 18 in Brandon's gym.
