WINNIPEG — Two weeks after their last regular season game, Bisons men's basketball showed no signs of rust on a snowy night in Brandon.
The Herd won every quarter against the Bobcats on Saturday, winning 84-70 and snapping a difficult stretch of five straight losses from Jan. 15 to Feb. 5.
Leading as he has all season was fifth-year forward James Wagner. The go-to offensive player for Manitoba tied a career-high 27 points in the game, shooting 12-for-18 and adding seven rebounds and two assists. Elijah Lostracco had one of his best games of the season in support, scoring 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting off the bench.
Brandon got 27 points from Jahmaal Gardner, but couldn't hang in to earn their second win of the season. The Bobcats shot just 39.4% as a team from the field and 52.9% at the free throw line.
The two teams meet again on Sunday to finish a weather-postponed series that was originally scheduled for Friday-Saturday. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
