REGINA -- After having their game rescheduled on Friday night due to rain, and having to travel back from Saskatoon, the Bisons soccer team showed little fatigue, scoring two goals in the second half en route to a 3-1 win over the Cougars. The victory earns Manitoba a first-place spot in the eight-team Prairie Division in CanWest, after a 2-0-0 weekend to start the season.Â
The two teams had plenty of firepower in the opening 16 minutes, before lightning bursts forced a postponement on Friday. The game picked up with the score even at 1-1 (click

A total of 20 shots were fired overall in a back-and-forth affair.
Bianca Cavalcanti, who had the lone goal over Saskatchewan the night prior, picked up where she left off with her second goal of the season and 11th in regular season play since 2021. The tally came mere seconds into the second half and was the second of a three-point weekend for the 2021 U SPORTS All-Rookie member.Â
Midfielder
Breyanna Johnston-Krulicki, who scored the first U SPORTS goal of her career on Friday, was back at it in the 70th minute when she absolutely launched a shot from 50 yards out that found the back of the net.Â
The Cougars pressed with a few quality chances, but couldn't beat the Bisons back line, or netminder
Karina Bagi, who had ten saves over the weekend. One of their best chances came in the 83rd minute on a volley from 25 yards out, however Bagi was there to make the save.Â
Manitoba now has a bye, with their next action taking place against Calgary on the road on September 9th, followed by another road tilt, this one against UNBCÂ at 12 PM PST on Sunday, Sept. 11.Â
