Box Score LETHBRIDGE -- The Manitoba Bisons beat the 30-degree heat on Sunday afternoon in Lethbridge, getting two goals from striker
Camila Goldsztein to secure their first win of the season, 2-0 over the Pronghorns. The win evens their record at 1-1 as they head home to host MacEwan and Alberta in their home-opening weekend.
Goldsztein's first tally was also the first of her university career. The third-year nursing student capitalized on a loose ball in the box, scoring with a diving header. The goal was set up by a one-on-one win by the team's fastest player,
Nicole Davis, who blasted a shot from the right flank that found
Tabata Bravo on a header. Her shot was stopped, but Goldsztein was right there to tap in the rebound.
The Pronghorns tied the game in the 37th on a partial breakaway, but two minutes later, Goldsztein scored the game-winner on a massive rebound from just inside the box. Captain
Jessica Tsai set up the play with her 20th career assist, as she continues to climb up the program record book. She is just six assists shy of tying Desiree Scott for first all-time.
Tsai's powerful left-footer from 20-yards out was stopped, but Goldsztein got inside positioning on two defenders to tap in the ball for the brace.
Overall, the Bisons had 17 shots, led by five from Tsai, who moved past Selina Speranza (2013-16) for fourth all-time in that category.
Chloe Morin led all players with three shots on goal.
The Bisons have their home opener this Saturday at 2 pm at IGF against Alberta, followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown against MacEwan at 1 pm. Click
