WSOC: Huskies best Bisons 1-0

Goalkeeper Karina Bagi was impressive in goal for the Bisons, saving six of seven shots on goal. She is now third all-time in program history with 168 saves.

SASKATOON, SK - It was a beautifully sunny day in Saskatoon for the Huskie women's soccer home opener at Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park. Saskatchewan welcomed the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday afternoon and gave the fans some excitement as a goal in the 84th minute would give the Huskies the 1-0 win.

The majority of the game was a tough defensive battle, with both teams keeping the ball away from their nets. The game saw incredible opportunities from both teams offensively but the Bisons and the Huskies struggled to turn those opportunities into points.

Goalkeeper Karina Bagi was impressive in goal for the Bisons, saving six of seven shots on goal. The fifth-year now has 168 saves in her career, moving her past Madison Wilford (2015-18) for third all-time in program history.

Fifth-year midfielder Hailey Weber would be the one to finally slip one past Bagi, thanks to a corner kick assist from teammate Jade Houmphanh.

Manitoba is back in action tomorrow afternoon against Regina on the road.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Starting in goal for the Bisons would be Karina Bagi, while the Huskies would start first-year Kalin Roberts
