The Bisons women's volleyball team added more international flair to their roster today, announcing the commitment of 6'2" middle and right side Selma Hodne. A native of Oslo, she becomes the second Norwegian to join Manitoba's roster, a year after right side Lucy Jurgensen, a Norge product, signed on the dotted line.
Hodne has been a force in her home country, making an impact at the local and national levels.Â
As part of the Northern European Volleyball Zonal Assocation (NEVZA), Hodne was an all-star middle blocker in 2021 and all-star right side in 2022. She earned the same honours at the U19 national championships in 2023 as a middle blocker, and 2024 as a right side. Hodne was also a U19 gold medalist in 2022, silver medalist in 2024, and senior national champion in 2023 and 2024.Â
The accolades continued for Hodne as part of the Norwegian Women's Volleyball League. She was named the season's breakthrough player in 2022-23, and has been recognized as the best middle blocker each of the last three seasons.Â
The product of Kristelig Gymnasium has also been a member of Norway's national team program since 2020. She represented the youth national team and junior national teams from 2020-25, and was the U22 national team captain in 2025.Â
"I'm really excited to become a Bison and play volleyball at a high level," she said. "I'm looking forward to a professional and high performance training culture!"
