The Bison women's soccer team (3-4-3) complete 2017 conference home regular season as they host the UNBC Timberwolves (2-7-1) on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. CT and then play MacEwan Griffins (6-4-0) on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Both games will be at the Turf Fields – west side at U of Manitoba Fort Garry campus.
With only four games remaining in the regular season, Manitoba is in sixth spot in the Prairie Division and Top 6 teams in each division qualify for playoffs. The Herd are only three points back of third place Calgary while seven points ahead of seventh place tie of Winnipeg and Regina to earn a post-season berth.
The Bisons are on a four game unbeaten streak after a tie and win against cross-town rivals Winnipeg during a home-and-home series on the Oct. 7-8 weekend. Manitoba won 3-0 at Lethbridge on Oct. 1 and tied 0-0 at Calgary on Sept. 30.
The Herd holds a 2-2-1 record at home so far. The Herd has scored 12 goals and allowed 13 goals so this season.
In 2016, Manitoba faced both teams and won 5-0 at UNBC (Sept. 11/16) and lost 3-0 to MacEwan at home (Oct. 2/16). Since UNBC joined Canada West in 2012-13, the Bisons hold a 2-0 record (W 11-0 at home on Sept. 9/12: W 5-0 on the road on Sept. 11/16). Since MacEwan entered Canada West play in 2014-15, the Herd is 0-2-1 in regular season and 0-1 in playoffs (L 3-0 on road on Sept. 21/14; T 2-2 at MacEwan on Sept. 19/15; L 3-0 at home on Oct. 2/16; playoffs: L 2-0 at MacEwan on Oct. 30/15).
Second year midfielder Hailey Lavarias is coming off a record-setting performance against Winnipeg when she set a new Bison record with four goals in a game and was named U SPORTS and Canada West Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 8, 2017. Lavarias is tied for fifth in conference with five goals and T-9th in CW in points with seven while starting and playing in all 10 conference matches in 2017.

Justina Jarmoszko is second in conference saves with 68 and seventh in Canada West Save Percentage at .840 while playing in all ten matches so far in 2017.
