Bison golf found friendly confines in the Peace Garden State on Sunday and Monday, as
Marissa Naylor and
Devon Schade both got their first solo individual wins of the season in North Dakota tournaments.
The Bison women's golf team competed in the Jamestown Fall Invitational at Jamestown Country Club in (you guessed it) Jamestown, North Dakota. Of the four teams competing in the tournament, the Bisons finished third with a combined score of 694.
Leading the way was second-year
Marissa Naylor, who finished solo first on the individual leaderboard with rounds of 82 and 78. For Naylor, it's the first solo win of her Bisons career, and her third time this season that she's posted the best score for the women's golf team.
Rounding out the team was
Brynn Todd (86/85),
Coral Zamzow (92/89),
Dayna Dubnicoff (92/90), and
Kathlyn Santiano (95/97).
Meanwhile, in Grand Forks, the Bison men competed in the King's Walk Invite at King's Walk Golf Course. Fielding two teams, the Herd finished third and fourth in the team rankings. Team 1 shot 600 (+24) over the two days, eight strokes back of victorious Minot State. Team 2 shot 606 (+30).
The headline was again on the individual leaderboard, though, as fifth-year
Devon Schade got his first win of the season playing for Team 1. Schade was the only player in the field under par, competing with windy conditions on Sunday to shoot an even-par 72. He followed that with a one-under 71 on a calmer Monday.
