Bisons football returns to action August 30

The University of Manitoba Bisons will return to the gridiron for their football home opener this Friday, August 30 at IG Field against the visiting Saskatchewan Huskies. Game time is 7pm.

The Bisons will have a chance at redemption in 2019 against the defending Hardy Cup champs on Labour Day weekend. The contest will occur on the same weekend the Winnipeg Blue Bombers do battle with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, offering up another opportunity for provincial bragging rights on the football field. Last season, the Bisons narrowly lost 48-46 in an instant classic, a game with multiple lead changes and highlight plays. The battles between Manitoba and the Huskies have been incredibly tight beyond last year, too. Over the last 23 seasons, the Bisons have a 17-17 record against Saskatchewan.

This game will be the Bisons' only Friday night game of the year, providing an excellent opportunity for fans to take in an evening game day experience at IG Field at a family-friendly price point. The two teams will meet again for a second time in the season on Friday, Oct. 4 at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
