Boasting a collection of talent from many levels of the sport, Bisons men's hockey return to Wayne Fleming Arena this weekend. The Herd are hosting the UBC Thunderbirds, with their home opener going at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 22 and a rematch at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.

As with all Bisons regular season home games, UM students get in for free but must claim mobile tickets for entry. Other game day protocols will be in place, with fans able to purchase their tickets ahead of time on Showpass.

Over 600 days removed from their last home game, the Bisons men's team have brought in a wide variety of talent, including several players from the WHL. One of the players already in the fold from 'the Dub' is third-year forward Colton Veloso.

The 5'11", 196-pound winger has played 38 games as a consistent scoring threat with Manitoba — while also spending half a season in 2018-19 in the ECHL with the Jacksonville Icemen. He's totaled ten goals and 11 assists in two seasons with the Herd — four of those goals coming on the power play.

Veloso will be looked upon as one of Manitoba's top scoring threats. The Winnipeg native is studying in the Faculty of Arts.

Bisons women's soccer wrap home schedule with Senior Game

Also on campus this weekend, the Bisons women's soccer team conclude their regular season at home against the Winnipeg Wesmen.

First kick is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 at the UM Turf Fields. The game will be preceded by a celebration of Manitoba's graduating players — Shaylyn Dyck, Brea DeBettignies, and Lauren Martens.

The Herd are still in the midst of a tough playoff battle and will be looking for a win over the Wesmen to secure their spot in the Canada West post-season.
