Box Score Victoria, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's soccer team secured its first shutout of the season against the University of Manitoba, 2-0, Sept. 22 at Centennial Stadium.

Erin Jensen led the VIkes with two goals, while
Chloe Morin and
Lulu Bordeaux each put a shot on frame for the Bisons.
Manitoba goaltender
Karina Bagi recorded nine saves. She now has 58 on the year, just four shy of tying her career best of 62, set last season. With 200 career saves, she is now only four stops away from passing Chloe Werle for second all-time.

With the win, Victoria moves to 3-3-2 on the season, while Manitoba falls to 2-7-0 after the setback.

Victoria dominated possession in the opening half, seeing their first chances in the 28th and 38th minutes. After a high shot and a stop by the Bisons defence, the match continued with a 0-0 scoreline.

Finding the game-winner in the 42nd minute, a deflection from Ruby Nicholas' shot found Erin Jensen, who struck the ball to the back of the net for the 1-0 Vikes lead, which they took into halftime.

The Bisons saw their best look of the night in the 66th minute. A drive in by
Janelle Chomini created pressure in the box, forcing the Vikes to kick the ball over the end line for a Manitoba corner kick. A pass on the ground found its way to Morin, who fired an on-frame shot. However, the Vikes' Kayley Lidstone was able to make the save and keep the Vikes in front.Â

Victoria added a second goal to their lead just three minutes later, coming off a free kick. A Kara Skirzyk header made its way back to Jensen, who netted her second of the night for the 2-0 Vikes lead.

One final effort for Manitoba came in stoppage time, when Bordeaux saw an open look and let the ball fly towards the goal. However, Lidstone was once again able to make the save and sealed the win for Victoria, 2-0.

The Vikes return to action against the University of Winnipeg, Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at Centennial Stadium. The Bisons head to Calgary, Alta. to take on Mount Royal University, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
