Women's basketball great Anne Schimnowski-Boyko earns Basketball Manitoba Hall of Fame induction

A graduate of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, Schimnowski-Boyko played with the University of Manitoba Bisons from 1989 to 1994. She was a CIAU All-Rookie and GPAC Second Team All-Star selection in 1990 and a CIAU Second Team All-Canadian and GPAC First Team All-Star in 1994.

The Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum announced its Class of 2026 inductees during a media conference held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre. The announcement recognized an accomplished group of players, builders, and teams whose contributions helped shape the history and growth of basketball in Manitoba at the high school, university, provincial, national, and professional levels.

Among the 2026 inductees was former Bisons women's basketball standout Anne Schimnowski-Boyko. A local product of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, Schimnowski-Boyko had a decorated career at the high school and U SPORTS levels.

Schimnowski-Boyko was described in June of 1989 by fellow Hall of Fame Inductee (class of 2015) Coleen Dufresne as "the best local all-around (local high school player) in the province." A provincial all-star and MVP in the '89 MHSAA All-Star game for the Maroons, she made an immediate difference for the Herd in the 1989-90 season, earning CIAU All-Rookie and GPAC Second Team All-Star honours.

Schimnowski-Boyko helped Manitoba advance to the CIAU Final 8 on two occasions, in 1991-92 and 1993-94. Her best season with the Herd came in the latter, where Manitoba earned national bronze. That year, the inside and outside presence averaged 21.7 points per game, which included a 32-point performance against Brandon on January 29.

The official induction ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.
