Bisons guard Mason Kraus has signed another contract with the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
Kraus, a Winnipeg native, joins the Sea Bears following the completion of his U SPORTS eligibility with the Bisons. His signing was announced as part of the CEBL's newly introduced Signing Day, which formally recognizes U SPORTS and CCAA student-athletes moving into the professional ranks.
Kraus finishes his university career as one of the program's most productive guards. He was a Canada West first-team all-star and ends his time with the Bisons as the program's all-time leader in career assists and steals.
"We are excited to see Mason make the jump and launch his professional career. This was his goal long before he stepped foot on the Fort Garry campus and it's great to see him realize it," said Bisons head coach Kirby Schepp. "We know this is just the first step as I'm sure the journey will take him around the world representing himself and the Herd in the next stages of his professional life."
The six-foot-three guard was selected by the Sea Bears in the 2025 CEBL draft and has prior experience with the organization, having spent time as a practice roster player the summer previous.
"I'm excited to be back with the Sea Bears, and to continue to learn and grow within the organization while slowly gaining trust with the coaching staff," added Kraus.
"The Sea Bears are a great step and opportunity for the beginning of my post-university pro career. The ability to learn from amazing coaches and players, and to stay home, is a huge bonus."
Kraus becomes the latest Bisons men's basketball alumnus to sign at the professional level, highlighting the program's continued presence within Canadian high-performance basketball pathways.Â
