Women's Basketball Press Release

Women's basketball wraps up regular season schedule with key matchup against Brandon

The two teams are separated by just one win in the standings. Saturday is also seniors night, where Mar Tomas Arbos and Treyah Maquette will be recognized.

There's plenty at stake this weekend as the Manitoba Bisons welcome the Brandon Bobcats to town to wrap up their 2026-26 regular season schedule. Currently in playoff positions at seventh and sixth, respectively, just one win separates the 7-11 Bobcats from the 6-12 Bisons. Click here for tickets.

This will be the second and third games of the year between the two sides. Brandon -- under the leadership of former Bisons men's basketball standout Ilarion Bonhomme -- opened the campaign with an 86-71 victory at home, their first victory over Manitoba eight years. The Herd will be hungry for retribution, and have added motivation, with seniors Mar Tomas Arbos and Treyah Paquette playing in their final home games as Bisons on Saturday.

Paquette is coming off a five rebound, four assist showing against Winnipeg over two games last weekend, helping Manitoba secure the Duckworth Challenge for a third year in a row, while Tomas Arbos added seven points, two steals, two assists and two rebounds.

Meanwhile, Anna Miko, Paige Schatkowsky and Taylor Schepp all finished in double figures in scoring the last time the two sides faced off, and will play key roles this weekend.

The trio combined for 42 points in last Saturday's win against the Wesmen, with Schepp -- the team's leading scorer with 11.4 points per game -- recording her first career double-double, finishing with 20 points and ten rebounds. Darya Rom has also scored in double figures in each of her last three games, including 13 in Saturday's victory.

Other the other side, four Bobcats finished in double figures in the team's game one victory over Manitoba, led by Piper Ingalls' 28. Macaya Copeland added 18 points, nine assists and six rebounds, and she and Ingalls will certainly be looked upon again this weekend. They're both scoring over 15 points per game, with Jayna Maytwayashing and Ella Averill both have over 130 rebounds on the season, with the former pouring in a double-double in the team's first contest against Manitoba.
