After four seasons with Bison men's hockey and two seasons as captain, Brett Stovin will take his talents overseas in 2019-20. Stovin has agreed to a one-year contract with the Kitmart Dundee Stars in the Elite Ice Hockey League of Britain (EIHL).
"I am really excited to come and put a Stars jersey on and get to know some people in the community and work hard for them," Stovin said in a Stars media release. "After speaking with a few teams overseas, it just seemed right to come to Dundee. I'm there to do what it takes and the fans will see it because that's what I am about."
In four seasons with Manitoba, Stovin totalled 27 goals and 52 assists in the regular season, playing centre, wing, and defence at different points. In Canada West post-season play (2016-17, 2017-18), Stovin had three goals and one assist.
Stovin has also been a community leader for the Bisons, involved in campaigns for the Canadian Cancer Society, Movember, and other mental health organizations. Â
Before joining the Bisons, Stovin had five seasons experience in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades, where he was team captain in 2014-15. His junior hockey was played for the Interlake Lightning Midget AAA, then the Interlake Lightning and Winnipeg Blues.
