The Manitoba Bisons have secured the commitment of another standout from Winkler, announcing the signing of 6'3" guard Dante Dyck.
A proven scorer, Dyck averaged 30.1 points per game in his senior year in 2024 with Garden Valley, and was named AAA Male Player of the Year. His commitment comes one day after Zodiacs teammate and 2025 AAA Male Player of the Year Ethan Wiebe chose the Herd.
Dyck -- who also averaged 8.4 rebounds per game, six assists per game and 2.8 steals per game as a senior -- holds Garden Valley's school record for points in a game, sinking 56 in February of 2024 during the Sturgeon Heights HIT Tournament. The year prior, he helped his school to a AAA championship.
Dyck most recently played pro overseas, suiting up for Olimpia Kings in Paraguay's National Basketball League, where he scored in double figures numerous times, including 19 points against San Jose last November. He also played for Paraguay's U20 team.
"Dante brings a year of professional experience overseas that has helped him mature and will transition very well to the U SPORTS level," said Bisons head coach
Kirby Schepp.
"He can really score the ball at all three levels, and make an impact for the next generation of Bison teams. We are very excited to see what he can do in a Bison uniform."
"I'm very excited to represent my home province with an amazing coaching staff and players," added Dyck.
"I'd like to thank a few people that have helped me tremendously throughout my basketball journey -- Walter Giesbrecht and Danny Friesen (Garden Valley), Marlin Kraus (Legacy Prep), Jon Giesbrecht (Playfreebball), Javier Martinez (Olimpia Kings), and most importantly my dad, Werner Dyck."
