Men's Hockey Press Release

Bisons add WHL Champion Nolan Chastko

The Brandon, MB native went on a historic run with the Everett Silvertips this past year, helping the team win the Ed Chynoweth Cup for the first time, while also appearing in the Memorial Cup final.

The men's hockey team added another junior hockey champion today, announcing the commitment of centre Nolan Chastko. The Brandon, MB native was a key piece for the WHL's Everett Silvertips in 2025-26, helping the team capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup for the first time in program history.

Described as the ultimate team player, Chastko is capable of playing multiple positions. His proven versatility on a nightly basis makes him an instant difference-maker.

Offensively, Chastko had a career year in 2025-26 as a centre. He recorded ten goals and 25 assists in 68 regular season games, while adding nine points in 18 WHL playoff games during the Silvertips' historic run. Chastko recorded a point in three of five games during the team's WHL Championship series against Prince Albert, including a goal during the decisive game five.

Defensively, Chastko suited up in 25 games on Everett's blue line, recording 13 points during that time, along with a +12 defensive rating. He also played defence during the Memorial Cup final against CHL Champion Kitchener.

"Nolan brings championship experience to the Bisons, after winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup. He's a high IQ player that has the ability to play any position in all situations," said Bisons head coach Gordon Burnett.

"He is a natural centreman that when called upon can help in any role, including playing defence, which he showcased throughout his time with Everett this past year. We are excited to have Nolan join our program. We believe he has the ability and hockey smarts to have an immediate impact on our group."

Chastko was also a part of Everett's roster in 2024-2025, when they won the Scotty Munro Trophy as WHL Regular Season Champions. The 2025-26 season marked the second year in a row that Everett claimed the honour, winning a combined 106 games during that time.

Prior to his time in the WHL, Chastko played in the MJHL with the Virden Oil Capitals, recording 124 points in 128 career games. He added 81 points in 43 regular season games at the U18 AAA level with the Brandon Wheat Kings in 2021-22.
