Men's hockey announce commitment of forward Miguel Bouvier and defenceman Tanner Willick

Bouvier is a Turnbull Cup champion, while Willick is a two-time Defencemane of the Year.

The men's hockey program added two standouts on Friday, announcing the commitment of forward Miguel Bouvier and defenceman Tanner Willick. Bouvier is a Turnbull Cup champion, while Willick is a two-time Defencemane of the Year.

The 5'9", 180-pound Bouvier is a Winnipeg native who won an MJHL Championship this past season with the Northern Manitoba Blizzard (previously OCN). He had 74 points in 58 games during the team's Turnbull Cup season, and he had 129 points over three MJHL seasons with the club.

The team captain, Bouvier was a First Team All-Star, and a finalist for the Outstanding Ability and Sportmanship Award in 2024-25.

"Miguel captained and led his team to an MJHL Championship, and all the way to the National Championship Tournament. He was a proven history of leadership in the sport," said head coach Gordon Burnett.

"We are very excited to have Miguel bring his leadership qualities and scoring ability to our team."

A Saskatoon, SK native, the 5'9", 170-pound Willick is a two-time AJHL Defenceman of the Year with Drumheller in 2021 and Blackfalds in 2022. He most recently played in the NCAA with American International College.

A two-way player, Willick recorded over 30 points in three different AJHL seasons, including a career-high 53 points in 49 games with Blackfalds in 2022-23, donning the red and white that same year at the U19 World Junior A Challenge. He also scored an AJHL personal best of nine goals during the 2021-22 season, with 27 points overall.

"A transfer from D1 American international College, Tanner has represented Canada at the World Junior A games. Tanner is a puck moving defenceman with good feet to skate the puck out of trouble," said Burnett. "I feel condfident that he will be able to help us move the puck out of our own end and also contribute offensively."
